Popular actress from the 50s, Neng Yatimah, 92, passed away in Singapore at 10am today.
Known for her tear jerker roles, Neng was also the mother of popular Malay actress, Roseyatimah. She was also the mother-in-law to actor and producer, Datuk Mustapha Maarof.
Her health was reportedly began to decline at the end of 2014, after she was diagnosed with heart problems and colon cancer.
The actress, whose real name is Buntat Ahmad, was under the care of her grandson, Isa Sawi, in Singapore.
She had been going under treatment in a hospital in the Republic, but was reportedly refused to continue with the follow-ups.
Neng was believed to have rejected the idea of living in Malaysia and wanted to spend her last moments in Singapore.
Born in Singapore in 1924, Neng Yatimah made her debut through her first movie, Takdir Ilahi. She became increasingly popular after acting in a few more movies, such as 'Batu Belah Batu Bertangkup', 'Siapa Salah', 'Laila Majnun' and 'Seri Mersing'.
Her last movie was Mama Oh Mama, directed by Datuk A.Mahmood in 1981.
She was honoured with Veteran Actress award at the 13th Malaysian Film Festival in 1997.
