As of yesterday, 3,495 appeals for rechecking of the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) 2016 results were received, said Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
He said of the number, 202 were requests from parents or guardians whose children obtained 5As while 79 for pupils who got 7As.
"The remaining 3,214 were appeals from parents whose children obtained other grades. The number of appeals for UPSR this year is about the same as last year," he told reporters after launching the Pahang-level "Teachers with the Community" programme here today.
Also present were Jerantut Member of Parliament Datuk Ahmad Nazlan Idris and Pahang Education director Datuk Rosdi Ismail.
Mahdzir said the deadline for the appeals is Dec 17, and the results will be available about one month after the appeals are sent in by the parents or guardians.
Meanwhile, he said that the ministry was targeting 600 additional primary and secondary schools to participate in the Dual Language Programme (DLP) next year.
"We already have 300 schools in the DLP, so with this target, by next year, a total of 900 schools will take part in the DLP," he said.
