KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO is once again reported to be holding a Supreme Council (MT) Meeting tonight at Menara Dato Onn.
Sources informed Astro AWANI that tonight's meeting, which will be chaired by its President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, will discuss in detail the proposed restructuring of the Cabinet.
This includes the post of Deputy Prime Minister, who was previously reportedly being considered by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in return for the confidence and supply agreement for the Supply Bill (Budget) 2021.
That support is also, according to some political observers, needed to happen to ensure the political stability of the country.
Yesterday, Astro AWANI reported that Muhyiddin, who is also the President of the Parti Pribumi Bersatu of Malaysia, is considering three names for the second highest position for the executive body, namely UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and former UMNO Vice President Datuk Hishammuddin Tun Hussein Onn.
For the record, Ismail Sabri who currently holds the position of Senior Minister of Defense is the Member of Parliament for Bera, while Hishammuddin who is also the Foreign Minister is the Member of Parliament for Sembrong.
Mohamad, on the other hand, needs to be given a Senator ticket if he is selected to join the Cabinet as the new DPM, as he did not contest at the Parliamentary level in the last General Election.
