Two people died and nine others were injured in accident involving eight vehicles on the south-bound lane of the North-South Expressway near the exit to Slim River today.

Intan Maizura Aidul Badri, 34, and Ridzuan Abdul Rajak, 33, died in the accident which occurred at about 3.30pm at Km371.9 of the highway, said a police source.

It said their bodies and the badly injured six people were taken to the Slim River Hospital.

The source said four cars and four lorries were involved in the accident.

"A lorry travelling north went out of control and veered onto the opposite lane and crashed into the other vehicles," the source said when contacted.

The north-bound right lane at the stretch had to be closed following the accident and traffic movement had slowed down, the source said. - BERNAMA
