Two helicopters collided before crashing - Police

KUALA LUMPUR: Two helicopters that crashed in Taman Melawati, Ampang this afternoon, were confirmed to have collided in mid-air before the incident.
However, the cause of the collision is still under investigation, according to Ampang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Mohamad Farouk Esha.
"The two helicopters were from Subang Jaya heading to Genting Sempah before the incident.
“Were both aircraft in flight training? That is not known yet as we are still investigating," he said.
The dead victims were identified as Mohd Sabri Baharom and Mohd Irfan Mohamed Rawi who were in the blue helicopter.
Meanwhile, two passengers from another helicopter, the red one, were believed to have made an emergency landing, were Datuk Ahmad Jauhari Yahya and Tan Chai Elan.
Mohamad Farouk said further investigation will be conducted by the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
