Two brothers who owned a vape store were fined RM1,500 each in the Magistrate's Court here today after they pleaded guilty to possessing 620 bottles of liquid nicotine in Shah Alam on Nov 5 last year.
Magistrate Farah Azura Mohd Saad imposed the fine on Ridzuwan Abdul Rajak, 36 and his younger brother Aimran, 33, in default two months in prison.
They paid the fine.
The duo were alleged to have the liquid nicotine in a variety of flavours in their possession at Master Vape Enterprise, 1-3A, Level 1, Menara U, Section 13, near here, at about 3.30pm.
Mohd Hadi Mohd Zin from Selangor Health Department conducted the prosecution for the offence committed under Section 13 (a) of the Poisons Act 1952.
Earlier in mitigation, counsel representing the two brothers, Ahmad Faiz Munawar, appealed for a lesser sentence on the grounds that his clients had pleaded guilty and by doing so had saved time and costs of the court.
In addition he said the brothers had to bear losses of nearly RM20,000 after the Health Ministry mounted massive vape raids from November last year.
