Hundreds of people were evacuated from the Kota Bharu Magistrate's Court and Sultan Ismail Petra Airport today following a twin bomb threat here this afternoon.

Kota Bharu Fire and Rescue Department Senior Officer II Zubaderi Mohd Dahari in a statement said the authorities received a call about the bomb threat at around 12.30pm.

Nine firemen were dispatched to the court building to comb the premises for any suspicious material with a fire rescue truck (FRT) and an emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) and arrived at around 12.39pm.

At around 2.08pm, the Royal Malaysian Police informed that they have not found any materials resembling a bomb but continued with their investigations for the safety of the employees and visitors.

Elsewhere, the Kota Bharu Fire and Rescue Department Senior Officer II Mohd Ridzuan Baharuddin and Senior Officer II Mahusin Hassan led a team of 11 firemen to investigate about the threat at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport at 12.31pm.

They arrived at the airport at 12.42pm and started combing the area for suspicious materials.

At 3.30pm, the police confirmed that the airport was cleared and declared the operation has ended.
