Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said The Malaysian Insider (TMI) report on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) panel was confusing.
He said TMI chief editor Jahabar Sadiq will be called in for questioning.
Yesterday, the MACC's Operations Review Panel (ORP), which advises the MACC, denied saying it had "enough proof to charge Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak over SRC" as reported by the TMI.
The panel said it expressly distanced itself from the contents of portal that there was enough evidence to charge Najib.
Its chairman, Tan Sri Hamid Bugo said the article entitled "Enough proof to charge Najib over SRC, says MACC oversight committee" published in news portal had cited an anonymous panel member.
“We wish to state that no anonymous source is authorised to speak for and on behalf of the Panel under any circumstances. In any event, we hereby expressly disassociate ourselves from all such statements attributed to the anonymous source," he said in a statement.
Following the report, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had blocked news portal due to its contents which have flouted Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
MCMC said the restriction was also based on complaints and information received from the public.
