DAP’s Teresa Kok has appealed for an end to ‘hate games’ as she continues to be the target of vitriol after a dead chicken and red paint was found at the staircase of her office this morning.
This is the second time a dead animal has been thrown at her Jalan Kuchai Lama service centre following the release of her controversial Chinese New Year video “Onederful Malaysia” last month, the first being a dead rat.
Despite the repeated hate-speech and threats of violence against her, Teresa Kok told Astro AWANI that she was still in shock with the latest incident.
“Of course it is a shock. I believe it has to do with the video,” said Kok, who is also Seputeh MP.
She added that she believed the hatred against her was incited by those who who simply misunderstood and distorted the message behind the video published.
“I appeal to those who are distorting the video, calling me anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Agong, and anti our national leaders to stop. Stop these hatred games that is making people hate me, and is promoting hate against non-Malays too.”
The dead animal and wet paint was discovered by her office staffs at about 8.45am together with her photograph printed on several A4 papers.
The police were currently recording her statement and attempting to lift finger prints from the premises.
Earlier this month, a group called the “Council of Islamic NGOs” slaughtered live chickens in protest against Kok's satirical video.
The group had smeared blood on a banner with images of DAP and PKR lawmakers, which also warned of “nightmares” of May 13.
It was also reported that the group had offered cash rewards to those who would step forward and give Kok a slap.
Since the 11-minute video was published in January 27, Kok had come under attack, with some claiming her video was anti-Malay.
The police are currently investigating Kok over the controversial video.
In the video, the MP plays the role of a feng shui talk show host interviewing three panellists on their predictions for the lunar new year. The panelists joked education, the kidnap of a Taiwanese tourist in Sabah last year and others.
