BANTING: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan is not resigning despite the conflict over the repeal of the Emergency Ordinance which came into effect on July 21.
The matter was confirmed by PAS Central Committee member, Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, who stressed that Takiyuddin will remain with his current portfolio.
“Takiyuddin did not resign. This (repeal of the Emergency Ordinance) is a collective decision of the Cabinet, not the action of just one minister.
"There is no change of position, no change of portfolio. He remains a minister and we will carry out what we have to do for the people and the country," he said in a press conference after visiting the Industrial Vaccination Centre (PPVIN) for the Vaccination Program for the Agricultural Commodity Sector (VACOMS) here on Tuesday.
He said this when asked whether Takiyuddin would resign after opposition MPs repeatedly urged him to do so.
Astro AWANI had reported that the Special Meeting of the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday turned tumultuous when Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Takiyuddin to resign.
The commotion broke out after Anwar read the latest statement from Istana Negara regarding the repeal of the Emergency Ordinance which came into force on July 21.
Reading out the statement, Anwar said, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had expressed his disappointment with the statement by Takiyuddin on July 26.
Quoting the statement, Anwar said that the government had revoked all the Emergency Ordinances that had been promulgated by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during the emergency period even though the revocation had not yet been assented by His Majesty.
