A group of students leaders had submitted a petition seeking for royal pardon for jailed Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at Istana Negara here on Tuesday.
Persatuan Mahasiswa Universiti Malaya (PMUM) President, Ammar Atan said the petition is aimed to seek His Highness kindness to deliver justice for Anwar’s released.
He said the reasons behind petition were because of Anwar's political imprisonment, the attempt to stifle the voice of the opposition leader, the international condemnation and also to fight the political conspiracy against Anwar, said Ammar in a statement today.
"We accept that the court’s decision was final, however His Highness Yang di-Pertuan Agong is the top crown of country and the umbrella of the justice.
The petition was submitted by 26 students representing students assosciations including the University of Malaya.
