A three-year-old boy's step-father who allegedly tortured and abused him is expected to be charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

Upon conviction under the act the 32-year-old mechanic can be jailed not more than 10 years or fined not more than RM20,000, or both.

Bernama learnt that the suspect's remand ends tomorrow.

Klang police deputy chief Supt Jani Ahmad said today, investigations into the incident had been completed.

He said a detailed report pertaining to the alleged crime would be sent to the deputy public prosecutor's office on Monday, for further action.

Jani said the victim was undergoing treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, under supervision of the state welfare department.

Yesterday, Selangor CID deputy chief ACP Rusdi Md Isa said statements had been recorded from the victim's 20-year-old step-mother, 29-year-old biological mother, neighbour and a doctor to facilitate investigations into the child abuse.

Earlier, the step-mother released after three days of detention. The mechanic was detained by the police on Tuesday, following an eight-minute, 33 second video clip which went viral on social media Facebook since Dec 11.

The clip showed the boy being hurled and kicked by a man wearing a blue shirt and a pair of jeans at a house in Taman Mas, Kapar, Klang.
