Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem announced today that the state cabinet had agreed to reduce the assessment tax rate in the state.
He said the agreement was reached at the cabinet meeting on March 31.
Adenan told reporters this after launching Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu's (PBB) party machinery for Asajaya, Muara Tuang and Stakan state seats at Dewan Suarah Kota Samarahan today.
Adenan, however, did not give details on how the reduction would be carried out and when it would take effect.
Earlier, in his speech at the ceremony, Adenan said since becoming Chief Minister two years ago, 50 issues had been addressed including toll abolition and a reduction in electricity tariff.
Nonetheless he wanted his own mandate in the upcoming 11th state election to raise the voices of Sarawakians at the federal level.
"If the mandate is strong, I can bring the voice of Sarawakians forward to the federal governmment to ask for the return of state rights," he said.
