SODOMY II: Anwar confident of his release

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a speech at Padang Timur, here on Monday night said that he is confident of his freedom however he is ready to face any circumstances he would face in the upcoming judgement of his appeal.

The speech is the final leg of his ‘Kempen Rakyat Hakim Negara’ before the decision on his sodomy case on Tuesday.

“Follow the facts. Don’t worry. I am not guilty, do not send me to prison.

“I still hope a wise decision will be made according to facts,” said Anwar during his speech in front of almost 2,500 of his supporters.

Anwar is however ready to face any possibilities, including prison sentence for the fourth time.

“I am 67-year-old but I am forging ahead and saying ‘Yes, I am ready.’

“I accept any trials if this is the price that I have to pay to achieve our struggles, which is justice for the Malaysian people,” said Anwar.

He also thanked PKR president, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah who is also his wife and his children.

“My family is strong. They know the meaning of struggle and the meaning of sacrifice and sacrifice needs patience,” said Anwar.

Apart from his family, he also thanked his supporters who are anxious with the decision which will be made in the matter of hours.

“I am touched with this sentiment. I thank you. I cannot ask for more that this,” said Anwar at the end of his speech.
