Siblings run over by trailer in Raub while returning from school

Two siblings were killed when the motorcycle they were on was involved in a collision with a trailer at KM339,

Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kota Bharu in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan Al Jabar, Dong near Raub Thursday afternoon.

The victims, Mohamed Zulfikri Mohd Zul, 16, and his sister Nurul Syakirah, 14, who were students of SMK Dong, died at the scene from severe injuries to the head and body.

Pahang Investigations and Traffic Enforcement Department Chief Supt Mohd Noor Yusof Ali said in the 2.30pm incident, the motorcycle the siblings were riding from the direction of Dong heading to Kota Bharu tried to overtake the trailer (from the same direction) on the left, but failed.

"While on the left of the trailer, the motorcycle suddenly went out of control causing the victims to fall before they were run over by the rear tyres of the trailer.

"The accident occurred at the peak time when all students were returning from school and they witnessed the two vehicles travelling slowly as the road was busy and many students were walking on the curb," he told Bernama.

He added that the remains of the victims were sent to the Raub Hospital for a post-mortem and the driver of the trailer carrying wood was sent to the Narcotics Department of the Raub Police Department for urine tests.
