Siblings held to help investigations into death of mom

Police broke into the flat with the help of the Fire and Rescue Department after receiving a call about water flowing under its front door at 3pm.
Police have detained two siblings to help in investigations over their mother's death at a flat near Bandar Permaisuri, Cheras, Tuesday evening.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said police broke into the flat with the help of the Fire and Rescue Department after receiving a call about water flowing under its front door at 3pm.
"Police found Yah Wan Mat, 63, lying sprawled in the living room while her son, aged 25, and daughter, aged 22, who are students of local public universities, were also in the flat," he told reporters here.
He said the back of the victim's head and her lips were swollen, there was blood on her mouth and nose while both her eyes and side of the mouth were bruised.
"She was confirmed dead by a medical officer at the scene and her body was taken to the University Kebangsaan Hospital for an autopsy," he added.
