Datuk P Kamalanathan says the ministry was awaiting the investigation report from the police regarding the incident.
The service of the temporary teacher alleged to have hit a Form One student of a school in Baling with a chair to the extent of fracturing her right hand last Monday, has been terminated with immediate effect.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk P Kamalanathan, however, said the ministry was awaiting the investigation report from the police regarding the incident.
"The service of the teacher has been terminated with immediate effect. He is a temporary teacher and since a police report was lodged, an investigation was being done and we will wait for the full report from the police.
"I'm quite disappointed...this is not the way to instill discipline. In any situations, a teacher must be able to control his or her emotion. Being violent is not the way," he told reporters after attending the Young Academician Leadership (Yale) Convention at Aimst University, Semeling, here last night.
A total of 196 students from 35 public and private universities are participating in the convention, which began today and would end on Sunday.
