The Selangor state government is urging Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (SYABAS) to set up a water distribution schedule for the Sungai Selangor 1,2,3 plant areas, Rasa Plant and Rantau Panjang as soon as possible.
It said SYABAS had been advised over the matter during the Selangor Economic Action Council (SEAC) on February 18.
In a statement by the Selangor Menteri Besar's office, SYABAS has yet to present the Proposal to Ration Water Supply and the Water Supply Scheduling Plan for the ammonia pollution in Sungai Langat.
“The Selangor government has instructed SYABAS to provide a water rationing schedule to be discussed during the Water Monitoring Committee meeting on the February 21.
“However, SYABAS failed to do so and the state government then asked the water concessionaire to provide the plan on February 24, however SYABAS had failed to do so again, and a representative of SYABAS has asked for the water rationing plan to be drawn up by the Water Monitoring Committee as they say it is more experienced in the matter,” the statement said.
The dams currently affected in Selangor are the Sungai Selangor Dam, Sungai Tinggi Dam and the Klang Gates Dam.
Previously, Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had instructed SYABAS to activate the emergency plan and the water rationing schedule to help those affected due to the seriousness of this issue.
