SAR operations for two drowned kids in Bukit Beruntung to continue, search area widened

Three out of the five remains of the children who drowned during a fishing excursion at Sungai SKC in Bukit Beruntung were laid to rest this afternoon.
Search and rescue area has been widened to eight kilometres for two more children who went missing in the tragedy.
The victims are Muhammad Ikhwan Mohd Ridwan, 10 and Muhammad Aiman Kamarul Ariffin, 12.
According to Hulu Selangor district chief police, Superintendent R Supramaniam, the post-mortem on the five victims revealed that the children had drowned.
“At 4.09am this morning, we managed to retrieve five victims and they were brought to the Kuala Kubu Hospital for post-mortem.

“The post-mortem revealed that that the children died from drowning. The five victims have been surrendered to their families,” said Supramaniam to reporters here today.
In the 5pm incident Friday, eight children aged between nine and 12, from a nearby residential area were drifted by strong currents while fishing at the river.
One of them was safe while five others drowned.
The SAR mission involved 80 personnel from various agencies and K9 dogs.
