Sabah MCA has formed a special committee to examine in detail the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on illegal immigrants in Sabah.

MCA deputy president Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said after examining the RCI report, the committee would make proposals deemed necessary.

"I was informed about the setting up of the committee two days ago. This is a positive step as only Sabahans would understand the real problems concerning illegal immigrants in Sabah."

He said this to reporters after opening a seminar on the Goods and Services Tax (GST), organised by the 988 radio station, Sunday.

The implementation of GST at the rate of six per cent will begin on April 1, 2015 to replace the current Sales and Services Tax (SST) of 15 per cent.

Wee, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, reminded companies that have not registered for GST to do so as they still have time until Dec 31.

The government is targeting 300,000 companies to register for GST by the year-end.
