MUSA: Sabah is lucky to be able to work with the federal government to be on par with other states in the country.
Sabah will remain in Malaysia and has no reason to leave the federation, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said.
"There is no reason for Sabah to leave Malaysia. We are grateful for the peace and prosperity.
"We are luck to be able to work with the federal government to develop Sabah to be on par with other states in the country," he told reporters at the Aidilfitri open house of UMNO Zone 6 here, today.
Musa, who is also Sabah UMNO liaison chairman, said the large crowd who attended the event showed the good cooperation and unity among the people.
More than 5,000 people of different communities were present at the event.
Among those present were Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan and Kalabakan Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh.
Musa said the state government was always ready to bring development to the east coast of Sabah, in line with the requirements of the people in the area.
Asked to comment on the death of a fireman in Sandakan due to electrical shock, he regretted the incident said to have been caused by illegal electrical extension.
"Instructions have been issued to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to take immediate action to prevent a repeat of such incidents."
On July 20, fireman Apolos Jeremos, 25, was killed, believed due to electrical shock, while fighting bush fires at Batu 7, Taman Kenari, Sandakan.
