The government strives to ensure the people continue to experience and feel the benefit of living in a country that always worked towards improving livelihoods and maintaining harmony and stability.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said this was backed by the state government's commitment to ensure political stability, economic progress and social prosperity in the state.
"In line with this, any actions that could negatively impact unity and stability must be avoided to allow us (government) to achieve aspirations we have set to effectively develop Sabah.
"This will allow us to further improve the socio-economic level of the people and focus on bringing more progress, especially to those who live in rural areas," he said when launching the 2017 Chinese New Year Carnival here last night.
The four-day carnival, which ends on Thursday (Jan 26), was co-organised by Kota Kinabalu City Hall and the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS).
Musa said the carnival, that has lured communities other than the Chinese, displayed a strong spirit of unity among the people of diverse cultures and beliefs and could become an important platform towards establishing harmonious community living.
"Unity and harmony are our pillars of progress and growth, and against this backdrop we work together in finding common values that bind us together as Malaysians.
"It is my hope that we will continue to spread goodwill and express words of kindness to one another," he added. - BERNAMA
