Private companies and corporate bodies have been urged to help the local theatre industry, especially in terms of financial aid and sponsorship to take the industry to greater heights.

The Prime Minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said as an art enthusiast, she could really understand the challenges, especially financial restraint, faced by a theatre production to produce a high quality show.

"Therefore, I would like to call on all private companies to look inside the theatre industry and help the industry players.

"Your contribution will not only help ensure success of a theatre production, but will also enliven the theatre industry in the country," she said when launching the theatre entitled 'Di Bawah Lindungan Kaabah' at Istana Budaya here today.

Speaking at a press conference later, Rosmah also called on industry players not to be monotonous, but to come out with a plot that could really lure audience, especially the young generation, to watch the show.

As the patron of the theatre 'Di Bawah Lindungan Kaabah', Rosmah also hoped that the show, which is based on the book by Indonesian author, Hamka, would relive Malay's arts, which are so rich in positive norms, values and philosophies.

Di Bawah Lindungan Kaabah tells a story about a young couple's life struggle from different social backgrounds.

With Rosminah Mohd Tahir as the director, the show is scheduled to take the stage for 10 days starting May 9, featuring actors Adi Putra, Nasha Aziz, Fizo Omar, Yasmin Hani and Dafi Ismail Sabri.
