KUALA LUMPUR:The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has rejected the registration of Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) through a letter issued on Wednesday.

According to a report by theedgemarkets.com today, the matter was confirmed by Pejuang's lawyer, Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali.

Muhammad Rafique said his party received the letter at 5.45 pm yesterday.

The decision was made when a judicial review application for the registration of Pejuang as a political party was scheduled to be heard at the Special Powers Appeal Court 2 this morning.

Following that, the party may file an appeal to the Home Ministry to reconsider the decision.

"Therefore, the judicial review scheduled today is only academic in nature as we will have to appeal directly to the Home Minister within 30 days after the decision, according to Section 18 of the Societies Act 1966," Rafique was quoted as saying.

Pejuang was established by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad along with five other individuals in August 2020.
