RoS: Investigations were carried out as soon as the report was received.
The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS) on Wednesday denied claims by a handful of MIC members who alleged that the RoS did not take action on complaints of misconduct and abuse of power in the party elections held in November last year.
RoS deputy director-general, Mohd Norzam Mustapa, said RoS had been conducting an inquiry upon receiving a report on the allegations that the election for the position of the three vice-presidents and 23 members of the Central Working Committee (CWC) had elements of power abuse.
"For the record, investigations were carried out as soon as the report was received and now is in the process of completing the investigation papers," he told Bernama here.
The 2013-2016 MIC elections last year witnessed the contest between eight senior leaders, including former MIC Youth chief Datuk T. Mohan for the post of the three vice-presidents, while 88 candidates, including two women candidates, vied for the 23 CWC posts.
In the election, Datuk S.Sothinathan, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M.Saravanan and Datuk S.Balakrishnan won the three vice-president posts.
