Revolver, bullets in Safee Sali's vehicle: Auto accessories shop worker charged

An auto accessories shop worker was charged in the Sessions Court here today with illegal possession of a firearm and live bullets.
Shalihoddin Azman, 34, claimed trial to the charge involving a Smith & Wesson 4 revolver and holster and 30 live bullets (38 LRN Special Ball) at the North-South Expressway, Kempas exit around 12 noon on May 15.
The charge under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act (1971) and Section 8(1) of the Arms Act (1960) respectively carry a maximum 14 years' jail and six strokes of the cane and imprisonment of not more than seven years and a fine of RM10,000 or both, on conviction.
Judge Mohamad Haldar Abdul Aziz set June 27 for mention and did not grant bail.
Deputy public prosecutor Safiah Abdul Aziz appeared for the prosecution while the accused was represented by counsel Hazza Khalid.
It was earlier reported in the media that police during a roadblock found a pistol and bullets inside a Ford Ranger belonging to Johor football player Safee Sali.
The vehicle was believed to have been driven by someone else and not the footballer who was understood to have sent it to a shop for some modifications.
The owner was supposed to take the vehicle back after the FA Cup match between JDT and PKNS FC.
