Residents advised to use not more than 170 litres daily - SYABAS

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) on Thursday, advised residents in Selangor currently affected by water rationing to use not more than 170 litres of water daily per individual.
A Syabas spokesman said the average daily water consumption per individual in Selangor at present was very high, exceeding 214 litres.
"In comparision, consumers in Singapore only use on average 160 litres per person daily and we hope people in Selangor can use water sparingly," he said when contacted by Bernama here Thursday.
Syabas also appealed to the people to be patient with the slow water supply, especially in areas that were far, hilly or high rise areas as the water flow might take a while to reach these locations due to the influence of gravity.
Commenting on the third phase of the water rationing, he said Syabas was still at the discussion stage of presenting the plan to the Water, Green Technology and Energy Minister and National Water Services Commission.
The second stage of water rationing implemented in Selangor due the the current dry spell involving 260 areas with 413,617 households entered its fifth day today since it started last Sunday.
