Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has called on parents or guardians who have problems caring for children with disabilities to register them (disabled children) with the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

"God willing, their welfare and safety will be protected," he said in his posting on his Facebook page Tuesday.

He said from before, the government, through the welfare department was providing assistance and support to parents so that the welfare and safety of children with disabilities were taken care of.

"The heartbreaking story of the two disabled people in Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan last week has touched the hearts of an entire nation," he said.

In his note, he also included a link to a news report http://bit.ly/1nYhhCr 'Registering Disabled Children with Welfare Department Opens Doors to Various Help' written by Bernama journalist, Nurrul Huda Ahmad Lutfi.

The report says that registering a disabled child with the department will open the door to a wide range of opportunities and support for parents and caregivers in managing their special child.
