Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos was arrested at about 1.30am today.
Police have arrested Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos at about 1.30am today.
The UMNO leader who has been taken to the Shah Alam district police headquarters was arrested for his Bersih 5 counter rally, set to take place today.
The UMNO Sungai Besar chief was earlier scheduled to hold a press conference Masjid Negara on Friday but he had failed to turn up.
About 100 of his followers had gathered outside the mosque after the Friday prayers were also disappointed that Jamal was not at the scene.
Meanwhile, activist Adam Adli who was picked up for questioning by the police early this morning, has been released.

A total of 12 people have been picked up by the police in the last 24 hours in connection to the Bersih 5.0 and Red Shirts rallies today.
They include Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah and secretariat Mandeep Singh Karpal, Seremban MP Anthony Loke, PSM secretary-general S. Arutchelvam, student leader Luqman Nul Hakim Zul Razali, DAP members Ronnie Liu, Lee Khai Meng and Jimmy Wong and activist Anis Syafiqah Md Yusof.
Others are Red Shirts leaders Razali Zakaria and Ariffin Abu Bakar.
