Red shirt rally leader Datuk Jamal Md Yunos who was arrested yesterday, was released at about 8.30pm today.

The Sungei Besar UMNO division chief was welcomed by his supporters who had gathered outside the Dang Wangi police station today.

Jamal was arrested on Friday at about 9pm after police recorded his statement at Ampang Jaya police station. He was later brought to Dang Wangi.

He was detained under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code, over his alleged statements that riots would occur in Petaling Street, this Saturday.

Jamal who was upset that certain media had caused him to spend the second day of Aidiladha in police lock-up said he is mulling whether to take legal action against the media outlets.

He said his lawyers are going through the media reports before deciding whether or not to initiate legal action.

“I felt the media, especially those who are pro-Pakatan, sensationalised my statement after I lodged a police report at Ampang Jaya police station on September 23," he told reporters.

"Within a day or two I will lodge a police report over the media reports," he added.

Jamal said he was taken good care during his detention at police lock-up yesterday and said he understood it was part of the procedure that he has to undergo.
