The results of the chemistry analysis to find out the real cause of the red sea water at Pantai Batu Hitam, Kuantan,
Pahang is expected to be known in two to three weeks.
Natural Resources and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the duration was needed to analyse the pollutants at the Chemistry Department in Petaling Jaya.
"The Department of Environment (DoE) is working to identify the real reason for the red sea phenomenon. At the same time, the water quality in the areas affected by bauxite mining is still being monitored.
"The DoE is working closely with other federal and state agencies to tackle the pollution from bauxite activities," he said in a statement here Thursday.
