PORT DICKSON: The wedding reception of Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi, and her husband Mohamed Azam Ali, was celebrated in a lively atmosphere at the Regency Resort Hotel, here today.

Featuring an all-white theme, the event was held outside the hotel grounds near the beach, and was attended by about 300 guests, consisting of family members and close friends.

Former broadcasting personality Ras Adiba, 54, tied the knot with Mohamed Azam on June 2 at the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI).

Ras Adiba, the chairman of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), is also the president of OKU Sentral, a non -governmental organisation that champions the rights of persons with disabilities (PwD).

"Alhamdulillah, we are now together. I am grateful that the ceremony is being held in my father's village in Negeri Sembilan.


"What is more interesting is that many Bernama staff who are still serving, and those who have retired, are present here to give support to my husband and me. I am so touched; this type of friendship must continue," she told reporters.

Mohamed Azam, 60, also expressed his gratitude as the ceremony went smoothly. He also prayed that this marriage will last forever.

The ceremony was also attended by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, and United States ambassador to Malaysia, Brian McFeeters.

Also present were former Bernama chief executive officer, Datuk Mokhtar Hussain, former Bernama editor-in-chief, Khairdzir Md Yunus and former deputy editor-in-chief, Ahmad Fuad Yahya.

Former broadcasting personality, Zakiah Anas was also present and the ceremony was enlivened with performances by singers Datuk M. Nasir and Mohd Fauzi Darus, popularly known as Jay Jay.
