Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) has today lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) urging it to probe into elements of corruption regarding the land encroachment issue in Raub, Pahang for the cultivation of Musang King durians.
"How is it possible that with a vast tract of land encroached, no action has been taken by the authorities all this while?" said Putra vice-president Datuk Hamidah Osman when met by the media after lodging a report at the MACC headquarters here today.
A spokesperson for the MACC, when contacted, confirmed receiving the report.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the state government had never intended to oppress the Musang King durian farmers, who cultivated the crop illegally around Raub district.
He also stressed that action taken by the state government was based on the provisions allowed under the law.
On Aug 28, Kuantan High Court Judge Datuk Zainal Azman Ab Aziz allowed the farmers' application to obtain a temporary suspension order against the eviction notice issued by the Raub District and Land Office and the Pahang Forestry Department.
The application was made after the state government began taking action against farmers who allegedly cultivated durian plantations around Raub illegally in early August, as the illegal plantations had allegedly caused losses to the state government as well as water pollution issues.
