Prime Minister arrives in Kuching for official visit

KUCHING: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin touched down at Kuching International Airport (LTAK) at 9.38 am for a two-day official visit to Sarawak starting today.
Muhyiddin and his wife Puan Sri Noorainie Abdul Rahman who arrived on an official government plane were greeted by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg and his deputies Tan Sri James Jemut Masing and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, besides Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Datuk Ali Biju.
This is Muhyiddin's first visit to Sarawak since taking office as Prime Minister on March 1, 2020.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is expected to attend a briefing on the Sarawak State Government Roadmap and hold a special meeting with civil servants at the Waterfront Hotel, here.
In the afternoon, Muhyiddin will visit the vaccine centre at the Kuching Unity Stadium before paying a courtesy call on Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud at his residence in Demak Jaya around 3.30pm.
He is also scheduled to hold a closed-door meeting with Abang Johari and the leaders of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) at the Sarawak State Assembly (DUN) at 8 pm tonight.
The visit will provide a platform for both leaders to further strengthen cooperation between the two states.
