Come October, the works ministry will issue a preliminary report on the collapse of a concrete ramp at the Second Penang Bridge.

The minister, Datuk Fadillah Yusof, said the report by a group of 12 experts was aimed at studying all aspects of the construction industry conventional practice, and investigate its compliance in the case.

"Initial feedback received by the group found negligence and non-compliance of standards and practices set in the construction sector, had resulted in the collapse," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after hosting an Aidilfitri open house at his residence in Jalan Sultan Tengah, Petra Jaya here today.

In the 6.40pm incident on June 6, the ramp at the bridge over Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in Batu Maung, Penang collapsed, killing one person and injuring three others.
