The mystery over what happened to the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) plane deepened Sunday as rescue teams continued with their search for the jet.
The Royal Malaysian Air Force chief Tan Sri Rodzali Daud said there is also a possibility that flight MH370 might have turned back towards Kuala Lumpur before vanishing, raising a number of questions both locally and internationally.
In light of this, Malaysians of all religions are carrying out mass prayers for the passengers of the Boeing 777-200 aircraft which was presumed to have crashed off the Vietnamese coast on Saturday.
The prayers were also aiming for a positive outcome in the search and rescue operations.
Here are a list of areas and institutions conducting mass prayers:
• Sultan Azlan Shah Campus, Sultan Azlan Shah Mosque
• Dewan Ulamak PAS Pusat, Taman Melawar
• At Taqwa Mosque, TTDI
• UiTM Kuala Terengganu, Surau Destini Ar-Raudhah
• Kampung Gaung Mosque, Kuala Berang, Terengganu
• Kolej Profesional Mara Indera Mahkota (KPMIM), Surau As-Syahadah
• Al Najihin Mosque, Bandar Sri Permaisuri
• Sekolah Menengah Teknik Sejingkat, Kuching, Sarawak
• SMK Dato’ Perdana, Bachok, Kelantan
• Koleh Dato’ Onn
• International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Gombak

Earlier Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak invited all Muslims in the country to join in a ‘solat hajat’ organised by 1Malaysia For Youth to be held at various mosques.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom in a statement to BERNAMA said he will instruct all mosques in the Federal Territory of Labuan to conduct ‘solat hajat’ prayers as soon as possible.
He also called on the people of different religions to continue to pray for the safety of the passengers.
Several prayers at churches and temples across the country are also being held for a positive outcome in the search and rescue operation.
