PR industry stalwart Millicent Danker passes away

Former journalist and public relations industry stalwart, Dr. Millicent Danker, 63, passed away in London early Saturday.
A statement from her public relations and strategic communications company, Perception Management Group, said she died at the Royal Marsden Hospital where she was admitted for Pulmonary Embolism or blockage of an artery in the lungs. She was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago.
The company said that Danker or popularly known as Millie, would be remembered always for her indomitable spirit, her strong professional standards, her willingness to fight for the righteous, her inspiring charisma and above all, her caring heart as a fellow human being.
It added that her legacy, Perception Management Group, would continue to uphold her uncompromising professional standards.
She became a journalist with the New Straits Times after graduating from Universiti Malaya in 1972 and rose to become Editor of Malaysian Business, a business monthly several years later.
She then joined Petronas as head of its corporate communications for eight years before becoming a public relations consultant.
Millie started Perception Management 18 years ago where she excelled in crisis and issues communications, corporate reputation and positioning, communications strategy and leadership communications.
