Police seize imitation firearms, illegal items from suspect in Kota Kinabalu

Police in Kota Kinabalu confiscated fake firearms and several other illegal items from a man here last night.
City police chief ACP M. Chandra said the imitation weapons and other items were seized when a police team searched the premises of a suspect at a condominium in Inanam, near here at about 7.10pm over a fraud case under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
"During the raid police found an imitation pistol printed with the words Glock 17 and series number DND076 as well as a magazine, a fake weapon with the words HK (Heckler & Koch) and serial number VE001637 printed on the weapon while another imitation gun had the words CA G36K printed as well as two magazines," he said in a statement here today.
Among the items seized were a green camouflage bullet-proof vest, a pair of army pants, a belt and a container with 480 white plastic pellets.
Chandra said the 37-year-old suspect who is a contractor was detained under Section 36 (1) of the Arms Act 1960 for possessing fake firearms.
Police advised people in possession of imitation firearms to surrender the weapons to the nearest police station. -- BERNAMA
