Police have opened an investigation paper over the minor scuffle at the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) dialogue session with the Prime Minister at Seri Perdana here last night.
Putrajaya district police chief ACP Rosly Hassan said police received two reports over the incident so far, namely one was lodged by a member of the public at the Pudu Police Station in Kuala Lumpur and the other made by the force itself at the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters.
"The police had lodged the report as there was no individual who came forward to make the report until this afternoon, as the video of the incident had gone viral over social media.
"A police report was made by the civilian at 1pm who was unhappy over the incident," he told a press conference here today.
Rosly said the police would send a report to the deputy public prosecutor tomorrow to obtain the Order to Investigate before recording statements from the individuals involved and witnesses in the near future.
Investigation would still go on although the two individuals involved in the scuffle had made peace and did not lodge police report, he said.
The minor scuffle broke out between movie producer David Teo and comedian Sulaiman Yassin, better known as Mat Over, in front of guest-of-honour Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the event attended by approximately 300 artistes.
Teo and Sulaiman then made peace before Najib.
Meanwhile, Rosly urged social media users to stop commenting or speculating over the incident to make way for the police to conduct its investigation in a transparent manner.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing hurt. -- Bernama
