The Terengganu police have exposed the latest tactic by a prostitution ring here which moved its prostitutes from hotel to hotel to evade detection.
State CID chief ACP K.Manoharan said a Chinese national in her 20s was detained about 10pm last Saturday in a hotel room at Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin in the company of a local man, 45, who was believed to be her client.
"The woman had an expired social visit pass and there were condoms found in the room," he told reporters here today.
Manoharan said a man in his 30s has been identified as the mastermind behind sourcing for clients and moving the prostitutes around.
He added that a Vietnamese woman in her 20s suspected of offering the same services was detained at another hotel two weeks ago, but she was not part of this ring.
The case is being investigated under the Penal Code and Anti-Trafficking In Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, he added.
