AMONG the headlines for Friday, 28th May, 2021, Malaysia logs a total of 8,290 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, making this the highest daily figure since the pandemic hit the country last year.
Selangor recorded the most with a total of 2,052 infections.
Also, ASEAN who is leading the diplomatic effort to end bloodshed in Myanmar, has nine of it’s Southeast Asian states urging the United Nations not to endorse a freeze on arms sales to Myanmar.
The nine states wrote a letter to nations sponsoring a draft UN General Assembly resolution on Myanmar, where a February 1 coup has sparked mass protests and a bloody crackdown by the military-led junta, asking to remove a sentence calling for "an immediate suspension of the direct and indirect supply, sale or transfer of all weapons and munitions" to Myanmar.
