Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim feels he has a very good chance of winning the post of deputy president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in the party elections next month.
He said his confidence was based on his track record and his experience in administering Selangor for six years and the support of the party grassroots.
"If (the party members in) Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan and Kedah and now Penang (give their support), I think my chances are very good," he told a press conference after attending the programme, An Interview with the Deputy Presidential Candidate of PKR, here, on Sunday.
The post will see a four-cornered contest when the incumbent and Member of Parliament for Gombak, Azmin Ali is challenged by Abdul Khalid, PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and new face Datuk L. Ramachandran.
Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid said he was prepared to cooperate with the federal government and Barisan Nasional (BN) in any matter if it was for the good and benefit of the people, especially in Selangor.
"I think if you want the country to grow, if you want to solve a problem, you must try to find the best way of solving the problem. Even there are some people who do not like the communists but when it comes to trade, they work together.
"My solution with BN gives the best deal to the people of Selangor. I am very happy to make friends with my friends and my enemies when the end result gives the best to the people," he added.
