The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, has instructed mosque management committees to initiate progammes that can draw more people, especially children, to these houses of worship.
"The mosque management committees should look into matters which are bigger and more important to Muslims and not just focus on building, extending or upgrading mosques," he said.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin was speaking at a breaking-of-fast event with religious leaders and members of the Perlis Islamic Affairs and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) at the Police Senior Officers Mess here last night.
Also present was the Raja Perempuan, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid; the Raja Muda and MAIPs president, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail; and the Raja Puan Muda, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin also urged religious teachers to pay attention to teaching the basics to those who wanted to get closer to mosques.
