IBRAHIM: Those opposing Perkasa are the real extremists and racists in Malaysia.
Malay rights group, Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa) has refuted claims that its organisation is racist or extremist.
In a letter issued today, Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali took a stab at its early critics including a mainstream media owned by a Barisan Nasional component party and pro-Opposition news portals.
"Starting from end of 2014, this movement is supported by a group of of Eminent 25 Malays (G25), who previously held top positions in the government, including Ambassadors.
"They attack Perkasa because apparently, they are liberal. But, they are ignorant by the fact that Perkasa upholds Islam, the supremacy of the Federal Constitution, the sovereignty of the Malay Rulers, the socio-economic welfare of the Bumiputera.
"They are also ignorant by the fact that Perkasa respect the rights of other ethnic groups as outlined in the same constitution," Ibrahim said in the letter.
He also wondered why G25 only criticised Malay organisations and questioned if they are part of the board of director of public-listed companies owned by capitalists, and not Bumiputera.
"Are the mastermind behind the movement anti-Islam, anti-Malay, and supports universal liberalism, which tries to establish a domestic capitalist imperialism toward the Bumiputera economy, or foreign powers who want to enforce political neoimperialism in Southeast Asia in the 21st century?" Ibrahim asked.
He also said the demands and statements by G25 contradict the status quo of the Federal Constitution in order to meet the universal principles of human rights and justice.
"The above phenomena is dangerous to Malaysia. It has the potential to trigger ethnic conflict, religious conflict, and cause socio-cultural, economic and political chaos. It will be also easy (for outside powers) to intervene in the domestic affairs of Malaysia," added Ibrahim.
Ibrahim said, Perkasa is always courteous and never get involved with street demonstrations like kicking policemen, wounding the police force and destroying police assets.
"Perkasa is not an extreme or racist NGO. Those opposing Perkasa are the real extremists and racists in Malaysia," he added.
