KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) is willing to cooperate in the efforts of all parties to address the threat of the COVID-19 epidemic, said its founder Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Dr Mahathir explained that Pejuang would obey the decree of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah who reminded politicians to immediately stop all politicking that could disrupt the stability of the country's government.
"As the leader of the unregistered Pejuang, I would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty YDPA who has prioritised the interests of the people by making wise decisions on the proposal to declare a state of emergency in this beloved country," he said in a statement on Monday.
The Langkawi Member of Parliament explained that the people were certainly happy with the decision made by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
He said Pejuang also welcomed the advice of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong who wants politicians to be less political.
Dr Mahathir opined that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's order did not apply to opposition politicians alone but included government politicians.
"Therefore, it is hoped that while opposition politicians respect the advice of His Majesty, government and government politicians will also stop political actions such as depriving politicians who do not support the government.
"Stopping the allocation of elected representatives who do not support the government, buying opposition party supporters to bring down the opposition party's government, forcing elections to be held in an attempt to seize the government, rejecting the registration of political parties such as Pejuang, and various other political acts such as bribe money in elections," he added.
On Sunday, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong ruled that there was no need to declare a state of emergency in this country or any part of Malaysia at this time.
His Majesty, on the other hand, reminded politicians to immediately stop all politicking that could disturb the stability of the country's government.
