SEMPORNA:The death of Bugaya assemblywoman Datin Manis Muka Mohd Darah due to kidney complications was felt by her political peers in Sabah.

Parti Warisan Sabah vice president Datuk Jaujan Sambakong said the deceased had good character, friendly and was well-loved by the people.

"She was a strong and dedicated woman. As a comrade from UMNO until Warisan, I can testify that she was among the most vocal leaders in meetings to convey the voice and needs of the people of Semporna," he said when contacted here today.

According to him, Warisan and the Semporna people will never forget her as a people-oriented leader.

Meanwhile, Tawau UMNO division chief, Ghazalie Ansing said the passing of Manis Muka was sad news for Sabahans who had lost a capable woman leader.

"Tawau UMNO expresses its condolences to Manis Muka's family during this difficult time," he said.

Ghazalie said the deceased was an easy-going leader as she was friendly, humble and stood firm in her struggles.

Manis Muka, 65, died at Gleneagles Hospital at noon today.

It was learned that her remains would be brought to Semporna for burial at Bugaya cemetery.
