PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang today stressed that the party that he leads now is not a mere passenger in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition.
Instead, he said all the parties in PR have their own roles to play to bring a political understanding among the parties in the coalition.
“Remember that we are not just a passenger here, our friends are also not passengers but all the parties in Pakatan Rakyat are mutual movers to who must strengthen their roles in bringing political understanding,” he said in his speech at the opening of PAS’s 59th muktamar, here, today.
Abdul Hadi stressed that all its allies in PR play an equal amount of role in determining the direction of the political cooperation forged in the coalition.
At a press conference after opening the muktamar, Abdul Hadi again stressed that all the parties in PR are equals.
“We (PAS) are of the same standard with others in Pakatan Rakyat, no one is above the other,” he said.
Abdul Hadi’s statement is regarded as PAS’s stand in the coalition after the party’s Youth wing called for its ‘tahaluf siyasi’ or political consensus among its allies in the Opposition pact to be re-examined.
