The Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Pengkalan Chepa resumed normal operations today after an interruption following a mishap involving an AirAsia aircraft last night.
Airport manager Ramzi Ahmad said today the aircraft, the wheels of which got stuck in the ground after it skidded while taxing for take-off to Kuala Lumpur at 10.25pm yesterday, was towed away at 5.45am today.
The accident forced the cancellation of three flights last night from Kuala Lumpur and Subang to Kota Bharu, he told Bernama.
The cancelled flights resumed today.
It is learnt that the ill-fated flight, AK6443, skidded as it made a U-turn at one of the runway and ran onto the soft ground by the runway. -- BERNAMA
