Only a thorough investigation could reveal the culprit behind the Sungai Semenyih pollution issue, said Selangor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, Tan Sri Noh Omar.
Noh said he did not want to point the accusing finger at any party over the issue.
"We ask that a thorough investigation be carried out and basically, the state government should be more responsible as it has the authority to take care of the river.
"Hence, the state government should not point the accusing finger at others. For me, whatever it is, an investigation should be carried out," he said when met at the Parliament lobby, here, today.
He was earlier asked to comment on the claim by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali that there was evidence to show probable sabotage by BN and UMNO in the Sungai Semenyih pollution case to undermine the state government in the run-up to the coming general election.
Azmin had also reportedly said that a police report had been lodged by Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) to investigate the river pollution case.
"I can still remember that previously, whenever there was a water problem, Syabas (Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor) would be the scapegoat. But today as they have taken over the state's water supply management, they cannot blame Syabas, so they blame UMNO.
"This is what I call the 'Bangau Oh Bangau' (blame game) culture," Noh said. -- BERNAMA
