OGA 2024: Driving global trade and sustainability in the energy sector

KUALA LUMPUR : The highly anticipated Oil and Gas Asia (OGA) 2024 event, organised by Informa Markets, has officially commenced, attracting a record number of industry professionals and key stakeholders from around the world.

Country General Manager of Informa Markets Malaysia, Gerard Leeuwenburgh, highlighted that OGA 2024 is set to play a pivotal role in advancing trade within the oil and gas sector, with over 28,000 professionals expected to attend.

The event is poised to drive dialogue and investment in sustainable energy, a critical focus as the global energy sector seeks greener, more sustainable solutions.

“The main purpose is really to accelerate trade in the industry. It's a trade show, but at the same time, we're looking for certain investment opportunities and promoting leadership through thought leadership programs,” Leeuwenburgh said.

Also present at the opening ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday was Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli.

Leeuwenburgh added that the event continues to grow annually, showcasing increasing interest from regional oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) companies, as well as from global industry leaders with this year’s edition features over 2,000 companies on the show floor.

“What is heartening to see is the large international interest at these shows. There are seven official country pavilions, with exhibitors from Singapore, South Korea, China, Italy, Germany, and the UK,” he noted.

Key partnerships, including collaborations with Petronas and the Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council, reflect the event’s commitment to fostering collaboration within the sector.

These partnerships also extend to the Malaysian Petrochemical Association, which is organising a sustainability conference during the event, highlighting the growing emphasis on sustainable practices in the industry.

The 20th edition the of event, themed "Powering Progress Towards a Sustainable Energy Landscape," will be hosted at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from September 25 to 27.
